FAQs

What makes your approach different from other brand strategists?

I work with you to build a brand that is a genuine reflection of your unique passion. We tap into the very thing that sparked the relentless drive that kept you going. That energy is infectious and relatable. It’s uniquely yours. If you have lost sight of this and are working for a brand you no longer connect with, you may as well be working for someone else.

Why is this human-centric approach so effective?

We achieve results by strategically aligning your unique human energy with your brand. It is proven that the decision to buy is emotional and ultimately human. In a world of digital noise, relatability builds trust, and trust is the ultimate shortcut to a purchase. It is not about artificial intelligence; it is about emotional intelligence. This connection creates an emotional pull far more powerful than any fleeting trend.

Why do you focus on legacy over trends?

After a generation of algorithms promoting generic templates and influencers, we have bred a society that’s lacking real craft, passion, and genuine human connection. I am investing in a future of generational heirlooms, not disposable products. My goal is to help you build an asset, one that stands out from trends, algorithms, and time.

Who are your ideal clients?

I work globally from Cape Town with those tired of the conventional. This includes startups building a distinctive foundation, established businesses needing to recover their core message, and marketing agencies seeking a fresh perspective on complex briefs. If you want to build a generational legacy rather than a short-term marketing gamble, we are likely a strong fit.

What is your professional background?

I have been in the industry since 1997, honing my skills at award-winning agencies like King James and The Jupiter Drawing Room. My experience includes serving as a judge for the Loerie Awards and running my own design studio. Since 2020, I have focused exclusively on strategic brand consulting to help clients break free from the "sea of sameness."

How do we collaborate on a project?

I am your partner, not a supplier. I do not operate as a "hit-and-run" creative service. Instead, I act as a dedicated creative director and an extension of your team. Whether working remotely or on-site, I ensure every message remains true to your purpose. I am invested in your long-term growth, not just a quick project delivery.

Why do you use value-based pricing?

Hourly or fixed-rate billing leads to misaligned incentives. My rates ensure your investment is proportional to the value created for your business. Whether determining a budget based on revenue growth or the financial cost of inaction, this flexible structure aligns our goals. Projects typically range between R50k to R500k (ZAR). A simple call is the first step to figuring out how we create value together.

What are your own passions?

I have a profound love for nature, which I experience through daily walks in the reserve on my doorstep with my partner, Maike, and our Africanis dog, Olive.

This appreciation extends to aesthetics, particularly mid-century and modernist influence in graphic design, architecture, and products.

I'm fascinated by a bygone era when people created lasting heirlooms that continue to inspire us today. This led me to create the Werdmuller Resource, dedicated to preserving South Africa's architectural and cultural heritage, aiming to safeguard interest in these sites before they are lost.

For 11 years, I lived in Swellendam, a town with a country lifestyle that we’re planning to return to. Since 2019, I've served on the Swellendam Municipality Aesthetic Committee, and in 2016, I founded the Friends of Marloth to assist CapeNature with the Marloth Nature Reserve.

Beyond this, my German roots give me a deep appreciation for detail, technology, and performance, and what we have achieved with this. Whether it's the strategy of Formula 1 or the thrill of airshows and flying, I'm always ready to have a heated discussion about Max Verstappen or talk your ear off about airplanes!
